1 cup plantain leaves
2 tablespoons fresh mint leaves
1 tablespoon fresh lavender
1/4 cup organic unrefined coconut oil
4 tablespoons shea butter
1 teaspoon bee’s wax
Harvest your plantain leaves. Only pick the leaves when you harvest them, leaving the root intact so it can grow new leaves again. Place all of your leaves in a large bowl or a sink with cold water. Let the leaves sit in the water bath for 20 or 30 minutes. Gently swirl the leaves around to get the dirt off. Remove the leaves from the water and rinse them once more. Lay them on a clean kitchen towel and set in a safe location to dry for several hours or overnight.
Once the leaves are dry, place them together with the mint and lavender and chop them into small pieces and place them into a clean glass jar. Place the glass jar into a small saucepan filled 1/3 of the way with water. Place on the stove and warm on low heat. Add the coconut oil, shea butter, and bee’s wax. Cover and let steep for 1 to 2 hours. Gently press and leaves down and stir a few times if necessary.
Strain the liquid into a clean small glass container and discard the solid leaves. You can pour the liquid into smaller containers at this time if you would like. Set in the fridge to harden. Use as needed for bug bites, scratches and scrapes, rashes, and burns.
